Jaime & James Downhall Wedding Photography, Herts/Essex Border

Some couples we just know are our kind of people and Jaime and James were one of those! They had certainly done their research before they visited us at our home studio to talk about their wedding and we were delighted to be able to show them albums of our work and images from the beautiful Downhall, which is where they were getting married.

Downhall was the first wedding venue they had visited and they instantly fell in love with it for it’s picturesque setting and traditional country house feel. We love Downhall for all the same reasons, not to mention it’s the closest venue to our office, which is just 1 and a quarter miles away in Hatfield Heath AND they do the most amazing burgers, which after a hard days shoot, is our absolute favourite on the bar menu!!

Jaime dressed in a beautifully fitted wedding gown, which flared at the bottom and was covered in lace, from Confetti and Lace in Lakeside, along with pretty Swarovski earrings and necklace and flowers by Gracie Day. She looked absolutely stunning and her attire matched the grand setting of Downhall’s beautiful interiors perfectly, giving me the opportunity to take some beautiful bridal portraits. James got ready at the hotel too, choosing one of the bedrooms upstairs on the opposite side of the hotel (no, I don’t need a gym membership with all the running around I do on a wedding day!) and then headed downstairs to await his bride!

When we asked Jaime how she felt that morning she told us “seeing James for the first time was the most emotional part for me. I felt a bit nervous before the ceremony but as soon as I started walking down the aisle, the nerves disappeared”.

After a lovely civil ceremony, the couple exited happy and relaxed and mingled with their guests before I took them away for some time with just them to capture some moments between them. I asked Jaime what her favourite picture was on her wedding day and after some pause for thought, she told me it was one of the moments when they left the wedding party and she could hear the quartet playing “somewhere only we know” by Keane. “I remember it clearly as it was the first time we were away from our guests, which allowed us time to let it all soak in. I kept saying the photo looks like a dream; the way in which that moment has been captured is just perfect!”.

The couple then returned to their guests and after some family portraits, we welcomed them into the Bridgeman Suite for their wedding breakfast, speeches, cake cutting (Cake Cuisine) and evening entertainment, which featured The Wild Boys band and DJ by Lovelight Entertainment.

I couldn’t leave it there - I pulled the couple back into the main hotel for a few final shots followed by a grand finale outside being as the rain had finally ceased! We think you’ll agree it was certainly worth the effort!

Thanks again to Jaime and James on an amazing day. Not to mention Anna and the Downhall team for looking after us on the day!

Here’s a selection of our favourites - we hope you love them!
