Claire & Steve's Wedding at Gaynes Park in Epping, Essex

Claire and Steve had been together for 12.5 years before a hugely romantic proposal in the Afalfi Coast in Italy! Having searched around for venues, it was Gaynes Park, which ticked all their boxes and whilst the thought of the long aisle was terrifying to Claire, it was such a romantic entrance to their beautiful wedding.

We get so much of our work through recommendation and Claire and Steve found us the same way, having shot a wedding of a friend at Gaynes Park and they just knew we were the ones for them with our mix of natural and beautiful images and of course, meeting us in person, also helped to re-assure them!

The morning started off a little rocky with huge floods causing delays on all the roads and consequently hair and make-up started 2 hours later than planned, but thankfully as soon as the girls made it to Gaynes the rain halted and Claire was able to make the long walk up the aisle that she’d been planning! Claire wore a beautiful sparkly and lace Stella York dress from Matchmaker in Brentwood and kept with the traditional something blue (the date of her wedding stitched into her dress by her mum), and old and borrowed, which were her nans’ ring and heart charm which they attached to her bouquet and she kept close as both had passed away suddenly at the end of last year.

Steve’s nerves obviously kicked in as the ceremony music started, and with eyes closed and a deep breathe, he turned to see Claire coming towards him. Steve told us “Because it was such a long aisle I wanted to face away from Claire coming down the aisle until she was close enough that I could see her properly. The emotion hit me when Claire came around the corner at the top of the aisle and everyone (except me) saw her - the whole room seemed to change when they saw her and it hit me how amazing she looked” I love that we were able to capture this for them from both directions as it’s such a beautiful moment and one which both the couple remember as a favorite part of their day! Claire also added “the feeling of seeing Steve turn round when I was walking up the aisle and seeing each other for the first time was amazing. He looked very handsome and I could see he was emotional as well so was trying to compose myself before I reached the orangery!”

The couple had an amazing day and spent lots of time chatting with friends and family and enjoying the rather yummy canapés and drinks which Gaynes are well known for! We often ask our couples if anything funny unexpected happened on the day and Claire relayed the story of a friend who was helping her with her dress in the ladies and who, when trying to pass the toilet roll managed to punch her in the lip instead! “It instantly came up and swelled but luckily it was during the meal and you couldn’t really see the red mark as it was on the inside of my lip! We couldn’t stop laughing but thank god it was after a lot of the pictures, it could have been worse, she could have given me a black eye!! ‎“

The speeches were absolutely hilarious and had us all in fits of laughter when it was finally revealed after years and years of Steves’ family buying him loads of Haribo sweets for Christmas that he doesn’t really like them that much anymore and they always take them to their friends house on New Years Eve to try and get rid of them!! Steve’s mum’s face was a picture, although from the sounds of it, Steve escaped lightly as his Best Man held back on some of the stories he could have shared!

We asked Claire and Steve which was their favorite photo and they said they couldn’t choose just one as they loved so many (yey!!), but for Claire it was probably the moment Steve turned to see her and for them both, they love the evening shots where we lit up the pergola at night. They also commented they loved all the family pictures, who all looked so happy and proud to be sharing in their big day!

Claire & Steve had a pretty mint green and pastel pink theme for day and used the following suppliers:

1. Flowers Penny Jane Flowers – Leigh on Sea, Essex

2. Cake Melanie Ferris Cakes – Stock, Essex

3. DJ/BandDJ Terry Lewis

4. Venue décor Mediterranean Occasions

5. Photographers: Both of us - Expression Photography

6. Venue: Gaynes Park

From our side of things we had a terrific day with this lovely couple. It was plain to see how much they enjoyed their day and having all their closest friends and family together to celebrate with them. We love Gaynes Park both for it’s beautiful Essex countryside setting but also it’s amazing food and lovely staff. Thank you to all who took part and to Claire and Steve who allowed us to share it with them.

Here’s a few of our (many) favorites from their day!).
