Jade & Chris Wedding at Parklands, Quendon Hall

In the year running up to Jade & Chris’ wedding, I had a good sense that it was going to be a cracker! We shot Jade’s sister’s wedding a few years ago, lived opposite their parents for 8 years and over this time have become friends with the family, so when they booked us for their wedding and we connected via pinterest (Jade is a self-proclaimed pinterest addict!) and I had daily updates on their wedding pins, we were super excited, both for them and for us when the day finally arrived!

The couple chose Parklands, Quendon Hall in Essex for their October wedding and were blessed with sunshine, great moody clouds, a bit of rain (which was well timed!), a giant rainbow and finally a sunset, giving us so much amazing material to play with.

That morning Jade and the girls welcomed us in with screams and hugs in the cottage where they were getting ready in matching dressing gowns! Hair and make-up was in full flow by the super talented Becky Messenger and Billy Mead and with a welcomed danish pastry, I captured the morning as it unfolded, whilst Mark headed up to the main house where the guys had taken over room 1 getting ready for the day ahead!

The excitement was palpable from this beautiful family! Everyone helped Jade and Chris with what they needed, everything was planned to perfection and Jade gave me goosebumps as she stepped into her stunningly fitted wedding dress, not to mention her amazing sparkly Ted Baker shoes (which if they’d been my size I’d have been temped to try on, haha!).

We gathered in the front entrance to Parklands where Jade’s Dad Steve was nervously waiting, and an emotional reunion followed. These guys are the closest, most amazing family I’ve ever met and I swear there wasn’t a dry eye in the room, but Jade kept it together and with happy laughter Steve escorted his daughter down the aisle to Chris, played in by pianist Matt Carter.

The ceremony whizzed by with smiles and giggles before the happy couple exited out into the winter sunshine with their family and friends! It didn’t last very long though as it started to rain, so we headed back indoors and kept the celebrations going until the shower passed and we were able to get back outside for some portraits with just them. I have to say that I loved this time with them! I think secretly Chris was a little worried about this part of the day as Jade is so into her pictures, but he well and truly took it in his stride and we watched on as the two of them smiled and laughed with each other, letting the images just fall out of their love for each other and the relationship they share.

The speeches were a perfect mix of good humour, fun and emotional memories and a few unheard stories about both Jade & Chris, which had us laughing along with their guests, so that by the time they were over everyone was in great spirits and ready to party in the marquee!

The evening was happy and relaxed with everyone having a great time under the beautiful fairy-lit canopy and entertainment laid on by Showtime Productions and a cool mirror photobooth. The couple then had their first dance, followed by Jade’s dance with her Dad to “my girl” (more happy tears!) and 3 more night shots (one of which I lost the sensation to cold in my fingers, whilst setting up 3 lights around the dark lake to give them this shot!! Don’t worry - they were inside dancing whilst this was happening!).

We always love shooting at Parklands - it’s a gorgeous venue and one which is special to us being as we had our wedding here too, but this day was definitely a special one to remember too!

A huge thank you to Jade & Chris for being amazing, to their parents Kelly & Steve for looking after us and to all their family and friends who made us feel so welcome on the day!

Congratulations Jade & Chris on one heck of a day and we wish you all the best for many happy years ahead! Here’s just a few of our favourites, we hope you enjoy them!

Love, Rachel & Mark xx
