Nat & Tom's Spring Gaynes Park Barn Wedding

Hold onto your seats, this wedding is just too cool for school! :-)

Nat and Tom (both teachers, hence my bad attempt at the pun!), a hugely excited Alsatian dog, bundles of personality, hilarious public confessions, a stunning pair of custom made shoes, a beautiful and unique dress… and so much more, all came together on a sunny day in March at the beautiful Gaynes Park wedding venue in Epping, Essex.

We arrived to a happy and chilled out bridal party and an even more chilled out Bride Nat, who was happily chatting with her hairdresser (Warren Lee Hair) upstairs in the Apple Cottage, as if it was just any normal day. Nat couldn’t wait to show me her gorgeous customized shoes from Gemma Kenward Shoes which she’d had made for the day! Featuring details personal to her and Tom, from the uni they both went to, to their new (and very crazy) Alsatian pup Luna, I had to admit, they were truly something special! The morning flew by with prosecco, gifts, hugs and laughter and before we knew it, Nat was stepping into her stunning two-piece wedding skirt and top from Vintage Trousseau, ready for her long aisle walk with her Dad and fellow bridesmaids, who wore beautiful dresses from Monsoon and flowers by Browns Bouquets.

Mark stayed with the guys (leaving us girls to chat all things girlie!) and photographed the final touches of them getting ready before heading into the walled gardens for a few pictures then leaving Tom to meet with the registrars and to welcome their guests.

I always get butterflies in my tummy before the long aisle walk at Gaynes Park, so I can only imagine how it feels for a bride! If she was nervous, Nat hid it well, happily chatting with her Dad as they walked in the sunshine towards Tom, who turned with a happy smile to see her coming towards him! A little kiss at the end followed by a lovely civil ceremony with readings from each Mum, which had us all laughing then out we came back into the cold but glorious sunshine!

The afternoon flew by and we captured all the happiness and laughter of Nat, Tom and their guests as they enjoyed a beautiful afternoon in the gardens. I adore the confetti shower photo’s - they literally got covered in the stuff and afterwards, we whisked the happy couple away for just a short time and met up with the bounciest Alsatian (Luna) I’ve ever come across for a quick “family” portrait before Luna was escorted back off the grounds before she found some sheep to chase!!

I loved watching these guys - little looks and happy laughter between them made for beautiful and natural photographs, which I feel truly captured the spirit of them and the way they felt for each other at that moment! This is why I love what we do and I feel truly lucky to be invited to share this part of our couples big days with them! We couldn’t have asked any more from these guys who were willing and excited to try out new locations and pictures and we made the most of this on such a perfect Spring afternoon!

The food is always amazing at Gaynes Park and both the guests and us settled down in the gorgeous Mill Barn to enjoy a lovely meal. The speeches will go down in history as some of the best, as bride Nat made the biggest and bravest confession to her new Mother-In-Law about Luna (their pup) tucking into the Christmas turkey last year, which they quickly and successfully covered up with an emergency carving before she saw it! The whole barn was full of laughter and hands over faces as all eyes turned to watch the reaction!! Thankfully I think Nat has been forgiven, although I think Luna is now well and truly in the dog house!!

We’re a sucker for lovely lighting and we couldn’t let the day go by without getting in some pictures with the festoon lighting, which was arranged by Meditteranean Occassions. I love the way this lights up the barn and we got some super romantic pictures with it, using both off camera lighting and then creating silhouettes at the end of the evening for one of my new favourite shots!

I could go on and on about how amazing these guys and their wedding was, but I think I’ll let the pictures do the talking now! Sit back, relax and enjoy their wedding! xx
